Update from the Director – Come Growth with Us!

Hello eGo CarShare Community,

As many of you know, eGo CarShare (formerly Boulder CarShare) has been a central part of my life since we first launched back in 2001. I continue to be very committed to seeing our organization grow and thrive in the Metro area, but the time is right to make some changes – both for me personally, as well as organizationally for eGo CarShare.

With our recent software transition behind us, we have the opportunity to restructure and streamline some of our positions. I’m also personally looking to ‘restructure’ my life in a way that affords me the flexibility to spend more time with my family in the Midwest. (I would not have been able to help start Boulder CarShare without the help and support of my family, and it’s time for me to return that support.) Therefore, in the upcoming months I’ll be passing the torch to a new Executive Director and we’re also consolidating our Member Support and Billing positions.

I’ll be staying on as ED until we have hired a new ED who will lead our organization on to another exciting chapter in our organization’s future, at which point I will shift more fully to Operations Management and/or an advising capacity, which will allow me more flexibility and time for family.

Our new and improved software system is also allowing us to restructure some of our internal operations, so we are currently hiring for a Member Support/Billing Manager extraordinaire.

Executive Director Opportunity

Job Title: Executive Director

eGo CarShare is at an exciting and pivotal moment and we are seeking an entrepreneurial leader who will help catapult the organization through its next phase of development and ensure that the organization remains at the forefront of the rapidly evolving shared mobility industry. The candidate selected will need to be an innovative, resourceful, and motivated self-starter with a proven track record of fundraising, organizational development, and strategic project management. The Executive Director will work with the eGo CarShare Board to carry out the organization’s mission and provide strategic leadership and implementation of the vision. The Director will also promote membership growth, ensure financial sustainability, and inspire and motivate a dedicated staff with a shared passion for the ideals of our organization.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Board Partnership:Reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement eGo CarShare’s strategic plan, as well as programming initiatives aligned with the mission. Serves as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff, providing timely information, options for action, and ideas and recommendations for catalyzing eGo CarShare into a successful future.
  • Team Management: Responsible for staff hiring and training. Provides the vision, direction, advice, inspiration, and motivation to the eGo CarShare team that oversees daily operations. Ensures that staff have the resources to be successful and that their professional development is nurtured and recognized.
  • Community Involvement: Enhances the visibility of the organization through effective public relations and marketing efforts to promote membership growth. Is an active presence in the environmental, business, and civic communities. Builds and manages strong relationships with partner organizations, funding agencies, government entities, media, and carshare members.
  • External Partnerships: Serves as an active networker and relationship builder. Strengthens and expands eGo CarShare’s working relationships with diverse stakeholders and partners, including business owners, trade associations, local and state government and regulatory agencies, non-profits, community groups, and others.
  • Fundraising and Resource Development: Increases and diversifies operational funding. Spearheads fundraising efforts, including donor programs and potential corporate sponsorships, grants, events, and other initiatives that may represent new streams of revenue for the organization.
  • Fiscal Management: Develops the annual budget and is responsible for ensuring the continued financial strength of the organization. Prepares and presents financial information at monthly Board meetings. Works with the Board Treasurer to discuss and reconcile the budget. Ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Accountability: Works with the Board to measure the organization’s impact and effectiveness and establish benchmarks for success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any equivalent combination of the following education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

  • Minimum two years in a leadership role with small- to mid-size organizations, including managing staff and operations
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and financial management
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years relevant experience
  • Excellent organizational, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Management experience with profit and loss responsibility for a budget in excess of $500,000
  • Knowledge of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) practices
  • Strong professional connections to local nonprofit funding community, with demonstrated success in cultivating and maintaining relationships with foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals
  • Incorporates sustainability practices into daily lifestyle
  • Passionate about eGo CarShare’s mission: To provide and promote alternatives to individual car ownership, thereby reducing the environmental and social impacts associated with motor vehicle use
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Engage (carshare software), Gmail, DropBox, RedBooth, Google Apps, Adobe InDesign

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Annual salary of $40,000-$50,000 with potential for performance-based increase based on financial performance of the organization
  • Free eGo CarShare membership ($240 annual value) and half price usage fees

We’re Hiring – Member Support and Billing Manager

Member Support and Billing Manager

Full Time – Boulder, Colorado

September 6, 2016

eGo CarShare is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Member Support and Billing Manager to join our small nonprofit team. This position will primarily work from our office in downtown Boulder, CO with the opportunity to occasionally work at our shared office space in Lodo (Denver). This is a full-time position. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

The Member Support and Billing Manager position is the hub of our operations and represents the “face and voice” of our organization to the majority of our 2,000+ members. As such this is a key position in our organization and requires outstanding customer service skills, as well as a very wide range of operational knowledge and competency. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable with, and will enjoy, troubleshooting timely operational issues with members as he/she is with doing more routine duties such as processing applications and responding to a wide array of e-mail inquiries. This is typically a very dynamic job which requires the ability to quickly prioritize and shift focus as needed. Attention to detail and follow-up is also essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Members Support – includes providing outstanding support to our members, answering our main phone line, processing new member applications, responding to general e-mail inquiries, troubleshooting operational and reservation issues with members, educating members about our policies and fees, member account maintenance, etc.
  • Billing Manager – includes daily carshare billing activities, preparing and e-mailing out monthly member statements, answering members’ billing questions via phone and e-mail, managing member accounts receivable, assisting with accounts payable

Additional duties may include:

  • After Hours Member Support – option for on-call shifts in evenings and weekends
  • Fleet Assistance – help with fleet duties as needed – including assisting with filing insurance claims, scheduling maintenance appointments, helping with basic maintenance needs on-site (moving a car to a different parking space, jumping a car, etc.)
  • Various Marketing / Outreach tasks
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned and needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Minimum of three years of office administration experience
  • Minimum of two years of customer service or operational management experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel), Gmail and Google docs; eagerness to learn new software applications
  • Enjoy working in a small, dynamic, often fast-paced, office environment with minimal supervision
  • Enjoy working independently the majority of the time; very self-directed
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple requests and deadlines in a calm and focused manner; comfortable with task deferment as needed to accommodate changing work demands throughout the day
  • Keen attention to detail and follow-through without losing sight of the big picture
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; enjoys looking for ways to improve systems and workflow
  • Strong aptitude and comfort with troubleshooting general vehicle operational details
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional maturity in interacting with carshare members, co-workers, Board members, and vendors
  • Proactive and self-motivated, but also an excellent team player – always willing to help out with any task at hand with a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated initiative and reliability
  • Good sense of humor
  • Incorporates sustainability practices into daily lifestyle

Preferred:

  • Experience working at a small nonprofit organization or similar office environment
  • Knowledge of carsharing industry and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) practices
  • Passionate about eGo CarShare’s mission to provide and promote alternatives to individual car ownership, thereby reducing the environmental and social impacts associated with motor vehicle use.
  • Avid bike or transit commuter, working knowledge of public transit system in both Boulder and Denver; you do NOT need to own a car
  • Proficiency in Spanish

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Starting Salary: $27,000-$30,000 depending on experience; additional compensation available for on-call shifts (optional)
